Position Overview

Apex Systems is seeking a dedicated Cybersecurity Systems Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role is integral to safeguarding our information systems and ensuring the integrity of our networks against cyber threats.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the complete system engineering lifecycle, encompassing requirements analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, maintenance, integration, and documentation of security operations infrastructure.
  • Install, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot network security solutions and associated monitoring tools, including L2/L3 security devices, IDS/IPS, full packet capture, DLP, and endpoint security solutions.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of LAN/WAN security protocols and contribute to the development of security standards and design documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, management, and stakeholders to report on security incidents and enhancements.

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of experience in a Systems Engineering or Administration role, or equivalent experience in Cybersecurity.
  • Familiarity with AWS environments, including EC2, S3, and VPC.
  • Basic knowledge of Linux systems, including CentOS and RHEL, with experience in system updates and patch management.
  • Understanding of Windows operating systems, including troubleshooting and log management.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts, including VPNs, DNS, DHCP, and firewalls.
  • Experience with antivirus solutions and security monitoring tools.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field, with 6 years of relevant experience. Additional experience or certifications may substitute for formal education.
  • Familiarity with IT security management in complex environments, including cyber risk assessments.

Clearance Requirements:

All candidates must be able to pass a comprehensive background investigation.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to learn and adapt to new systems and applications.
  • Relevant certifications such as Security+, CCNP, or CISSP are advantageous.
  • Experience with scripting languages like Python or Bash.
