Role Overview:

We are in search of a proficient and knowledgeable Linux Systems Operations Specialist to enhance our IT department. This role involves overseeing and optimizing our Linux server framework, ensuring peak performance, security, and dependability. You will play a crucial role in architecting and executing system enhancements while supporting various initiatives that propel our organization forward.

Core Responsibilities:

  • System Oversight: Manage the setup, configuration, and upkeep of Linux-based servers and HPC systems tailored to client needs. Guarantee high availability, performance, and security across all Linux environments.
  • Issue Resolution: Diagnose and rectify intricate issues related to Linux systems, encompassing hardware malfunctions, network complications, and software discrepancies.
  • Security Management: Establish and oversee security protocols, including user access controls, firewall settings, and intrusion detection mechanisms. Conduct routine security evaluations and vulnerability analyses.
  • Automation Development: Create and sustain scripts and automation solutions for system monitoring, backups, and deployments utilizing languages such as Bash, Python, or Ansible.
  • Performance Optimization: Track system performance and execute performance enhancements to ensure optimal efficiency and responsiveness.
  • Disaster Recovery Planning: Formulate and implement disaster recovery strategies and backup plans to maintain data integrity and accessibility.
  • Documentation Maintenance: Generate and uphold detailed documentation for system setups, processes, and protocols. Ensure documentation remains current and easily accessible.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with fellow IT personnel, developers, and stakeholders to assist in projects and provide technical support. Participate in on-call duties as required.
  • System Upgrades: Oversee system upgrades and patches, ensuring minimal disruption to operations. Assess new technologies and tools for potential integration.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience as a Linux Administrator or in a comparable position, with substantial hands-on experience in managing extensive Linux environments.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer), CompTIA Linux+, or LPIC (Linux Professional Institute Certification) are highly advantageous.

Technical Proficiencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of Linux distributions (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu).
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM, Kubernetes).
  • Expertise in scripting and automation tools (e.g., Bash, Python, Ansible).
  • Understanding of networking principles and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Puppet, Chef).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
