Position Overview

Engineering Consulting Services (ECS) is seeking a seasoned Principal Engineer specializing in Construction Materials Testing (CMT) to enhance our Austin field services team. This role is pivotal in ensuring that project quality and performance align with our rigorous standards. You will engage with clients and project teams to guarantee that objectives and timelines are met from the initial proposal through to the final review.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple CMT projects, conduct thorough technical report evaluations, and prepare as well as review project proposals.
  • Provide expert guidance by reviewing technical documentation and mentoring CMT personnel through training and professional development.
  • Support the growth of junior project managers and collaborate with fellow managers and internal recruiters to address staffing needs based on project requirements.
  • Facilitate or participate in client project meetings, offering technical solutions to any issues that arise.
  • Effectively promote our services through networking and maintain strong relationships with both new and existing clients.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management, Materials Science Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Geology. Note: Construction Management degrees and certain Technology degrees may not be considered.
  • A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience, including drafting, reviewing, and approving technical reports.
  • Professional licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG).
  • Designation as a senior reviewer at your current or previous firm; detailed information on ECS senior reviewer policy will be provided during the interview or offer stage.
  • Maintain all necessary licenses and certifications in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency, leadership capabilities, and a commitment to safety and professionalism.
  • A proven history of excellence in project management, consulting, and business development.
  • In-depth knowledge of CMT principles, applications, and ASTM laboratory standards.
  • A valid driver's license and insurance for driving on behalf of ECS.
  • Strong marketing acumen with the ability to cultivate and sustain client relationships; experience with established connections in the local market is advantageous.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Outstanding leadership and decision-making abilities, enabling effective collaboration with clients, peers, and supervisors.
