Position Overview:

  • Part-Time, Regular, Hourly, Non-Exempt position with a maximum of 25 hours per week
  • Availability required on weekdays, select weekends, and occasional evenings and holidays
  • Hourly compensation set at $16.00

Role Summary:

As a Celebration Host, your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all birthday celebrations at the Zoo are memorable, enjoyable, and safe for all attendees. Your aim is to enhance the visitor experience while effectively coordinating necessary support services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Arrive on time and well-prepared for your scheduled shift
  • Exhibit a professional demeanor that positively represents the Zoo
  • Collaborate with various Zoo departments and external vendors to ensure event success
  • Guarantee that events adhere to policies, meet participant satisfaction, and address any issues promptly
  • Actively promote the Zoo as a venue for diverse events
  • Thoroughly complete pre-event tasks according to a specified checklist

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Operate electric carts in accordance with Zoo policies
  • Set up and inspect birthday event locations as required
  • Escort deliveries and service providers to and from event sites
  • Ensure timely cleanup post-events and report any issues
  • Manage emergencies professionally and adhere to Zoo protocols
  • Engage with guests to provide information, identify needs, and deliver outstanding customer service

Essential Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Experience in customer service, childcare, or event coordination is advantageous
  • Strong organizational and communication abilities
  • Capability to manage stress, follow instructions, and effectively manage time
  • Attention to detail, teamwork, and professionalism are crucial

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

  • Ability to navigate the facility, climb stairs, and stand/walk for extended periods
  • Outdoor work in varying weather conditions (mild climate)
  • Occasional lifting of objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Flexible schedule with weekend and evening shifts
  • Work in a shared office environment with potential interruptions
