We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Member Services Ambassador to join our team at the Santa Barbara Zoo. As a key member of our Membership Department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to our members and guests, while also assisting with administrative tasks and supporting the overall success of our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Member Services: Serve as the primary point of contact for member inquiries, providing timely and professional responses via phone, email, and in-person interactions.
  • Administrative Support: Assist with administrative tasks, such as data entry, word processing, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Guest Relations: Greet guests with a smile, thank them for their support, and provide information about the zoo and its programs.
  • Membership Processing: Process membership mail and phone orders, as well as gift memberships.
  • Accounting and Research: Handle membership billing and accounting research, collaborating with other departments as needed.
  • Point-of-Sale (POS) System: Assist with entering new and updated data into the POS system and membership database.
  • Problem-Solving: Respond to member account inquiries and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Supply Management: Keep track of regular membership supplies and restock or order as needed.
  • Communication: Digitally issue and mail out membership materials as needed.

Requirements:

  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Experience: Prior experience in customer service, preferably working directly with the public.
  • Skills: Effective oral and written communication skills, phone etiquette, data entry, word processing, and ability to work in a shared open space environment.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with member/donor database software and ability to learn new systems.

Working Conditions:

  • Physical Demands: Ability to communicate effectively with team members, access all areas of the facility, climb stairs, and stand/walk for up to two continuous hours.
  • Work Environment: Shared, open space workspace with interruptions and individuals interacting.
