Position Overview:

The Lead Mechanical Systems Engineer is tasked with the design, modification, planning, initiation, and oversight of projects associated with mechanical systems and equipment. This role is crucial for ensuring optimal equipment functionality and efficient utility consumption. The engineer will engage with various systems including HVAC, plumbing, steam, chilled water, and medical gas systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Function autonomously as an engineering planner and project coordinator.
  • Manage projects of significant scope and complexity, addressing intricate problem-solving and negotiation challenges.
  • Supervise administrative duties of team members assigned to projects, including consulting engineers and internal personnel.
  • Guide and develop operations staff, aligning with departmental objectives and mission.
  • Facilitate communication across multiple departments within the organization.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer license with a minimum of five years of experience in HVAC, plumbing, and/or fire protection design, ideally within a healthcare environment.
  • Proven experience in construction project management and leadership roles.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with mechanical systems in healthcare settings is advantageous.
  • Certifications such as LEED AP BD+C, CEM, CHFM, or Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt are preferred.
  • Ability to foster team collaboration and maintain a constructive work atmosphere.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and technical troubleshooting abilities.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

  • Exhibit proficiency in both technical and interpersonal skills necessary to fulfill job expectations.
  • Understanding of mechanical engineering standards and regulatory frameworks.
