The Senior Mechanical Engineer - Project Manager is a key member of the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center's facilities team, responsible for designing, modifying, and managing projects related to mechanical systems and equipment. This role requires a high level of autonomy and technical expertise, with a focus on delivering high-quality results and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement project plans, scope, and specifications for HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical projects.
- Manage and coordinate with internal and external consultants and resources to ensure project completion.
- Perform engineering quality assurance reviews of large-scale and highly complex construction and renovation projects.
- Identify and develop short- and long-term capital needs of HVAC, controls, and mechanical systems.
- Prepare capital and operations planning recommendations based on data analysis.
- Maintain documentation required for hospital accreditation and regulatory compliance.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer license and five years of experience in HVAC, plumbing, and/or fire protection design, with two years of leading work groups and two years of construction project management.
- Excellent engineering and office software skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Considerable experience with hospital mechanical systems and LEED AP BD+C, CEM, CHFM, and/or Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, diverse, and customer-focused environment.
- Valid driver's license and ability to live within sixty miles of the Wexner Medical Center's main campus.
- One to three years of experience in healthcare HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.
- Knowledge of American Society of Mechanical Engineers Standards (ASME), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), Ohio Basic Building Code (OBBC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE), American Society of Heating, Refrigerating & Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO) requirements.
