Your Role...

As a Mechanical Engineer II, you will provide mechanical engineering expertise for various projects, including design, development, and project execution under the mentorship of a Senior Engineer.

Key Responsibilities...

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Establishing and defining relevant design criteria, including compliance with codes.
  • Conducting surveys to collect field data.
  • Preparing project analyses, including design, load calculations, life cycle costs, and equipment selection.
  • Creating and interpreting technical drawings, schematic layouts, and other visual aids.
  • Coordinating mechanical design requirements with other design professionals, such as Architects, Structural Engineers, and Electrical Engineers.
  • Drafting technical construction specifications and compliance documentation for submissions.
  • Overseeing engineering document production and reviewing for adherence to engineering standards, design criteria, contract stipulations, and applicable codes.
  • Aligning design activities with construction team requirements.
  • Assisting in resolving project issues, scope modifications, and field inquiries as they arise.
  • Reviewing and approving equipment submittals and shop drawings.
  • Supporting the development of conceptual engineering and design documents for sales opportunities.
  • Providing on-the-job training to new team members and offering performance feedback to management.
  • Ensuring a safe working environment and promoting safety among colleagues, particularly at job sites.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications...
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Architectural Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 5+ years of experience in MEP engineering.
  • Familiarity with relevant federal, state, and local building codes and safety regulations.
  • Proficient in CAD tools and energy modeling software.
  • Experience with HVAC load calculations, duct/piping/plumbing design, energy modeling, equipment selection, temperature control, acoustics, and other mechanical construction aspects.
  • Understanding of architectural, structural, civil, electrical, and fire protection design activities.
  • Knowledge of construction and maintenance practices related to HVAC and plumbing trades.
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) with diverse audiences.
  • Willingness to work in the local branch office and conduct facility site visits for the majority of the work week.

  • Registered Professional Engineer.

Work Environment:
  • This position primarily operates in an office setting, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, and printers.
  • Work duties may also require visits to local job sites, exposing the employee to outdoor weather conditions and typical construction site hazards.

  • In performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, perform repetitive motions, and possess adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity.
