Position Overview:
The Mechanical Engineering Supervisor will play a crucial role in overseeing the delivery of design packages for complex, multi-disciplinary projects in the manufacturing sector. This position demands a proven track record in facilities design for clients in the Food, Beverage, Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), or Life Sciences industries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of mechanical and plumbing design professionals, ensuring the timely production of high-quality design deliverables.
- Manage departmental workflow and resources, contributing to accurate workload projections and cost estimates.
- Define and implement design concepts, maintaining the overall quality of construction documents.
- Serve as the Engineer of Record, ensuring precision and completeness in all documentation.
- Facilitate technical coordination across departments, ensuring seamless communication with project managers and leadership.
- Conduct thorough reviews of technical work products and collaborate with vendors on equipment sizing and system design.
- Perform site evaluations and prepare detailed technical reports, optimizing component utilization and reviewing project specifications.
- Prepare Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for subconsultants, summarizing bids for informed recommendations.
- Participate in professional organizations that influence industry standards and regulatory guidelines.
- Mentor junior engineers, providing support and resources to foster professional growth.
- Contribute to organizational growth through marketing proposal development and adherence to company policies.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A minimum of 12 years of experience in AEC engineering, particularly with facility mechanical systems.
- 2+ years of experience in a managerial role within engineering or mechanical departments.
- A solid understanding of refrigeration design and custom plumbing systems.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in technical writing and documentation.
- Expertise in industry-standard software tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- A Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, preferably in Mechanical Engineering.
- An active Professional Engineering (PE) license in at least one state, with a commitment to obtaining licensure in additional states as needed.
