The Commonwealth of Virginia's Department of Pharmacology at the University of Virginia School of Medicine is seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join their dynamic team in the laboratory of Dr. Julius Zhu.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the forefront of scientific inquiry, integrating innovative technologies to unravel the neural mechanisms underlying behavior and diseases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research in molecular biology, advanced electrophysiology, optical imaging, or engineering, and/or behavioral analysis.
  • Develop and implement research plans, protocols, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the research team to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Contribute to the drafting of manuscripts and grant proposals.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of new research projects.

Requirements:

  • PhD and/or MD degree(s) by the start date.
  • 5-7 years of experience in molecular biology, advanced electrophysiology, optical imaging, or engineering, and/or behavioral analysis.
  • Track record of publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
  • Candidates with their own grant/fellowship support are especially encouraged to apply.

Benefits:
