About the Role

Westinghouse Electric Company, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Process Safety Engineer II to join their Thermal Hazards Group in the Chicago area. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for providing direct engineering support to operations, communicating with clients, and analyzing data to solve process safety problems.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to operations, covering all aspects of reactive chemical hazards
  • Communicate with clients to determine project scope and requirements
  • Analyze and develop proposals to solve process safety problems
  • Design and execute experimental techniques to gather thermal data for reactive materials
  • Analyze data from experiments and perform engineering calculations
  • Make recommendations to clients on emergency relief system sizing and thermal stability of self-reactive chemicals
  • Conduct technical writing to communicate experimental and calculational results
  • Provide training to users on calorimeter operation and engineering analysis
  • Support quality programs, such as ISO 17025 and ISO 9001
  • Contribute to marketing efforts through blog posts and newsletter articles
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Nuclear, Mechanical) or equivalent
  • 3 years of experience in process safety industry
  • Excellent technical writing and oral communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and execute projects in a timely manner
  • Experience with C++, Fortran, Visual Basic, MathCAD, and/or Python preferred
