Job Overview

Under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, the Crisis Recovery Support Specialist plays a vital role in addressing 988 and warmline inquiries, performing assessments, providing crisis counseling, and facilitating screenings and referrals for substance use, co-occurring disorders, and additional services. This role serves as a crucial link between consumers, community programs, and local services. Drawing from personal recovery experiences, the Crisis Recovery Support Specialist collaborates with individuals to promote a message of hope and share valuable insights. Services offered include personalized peer mentoring, peer-led support groups, outreach via phone, and assistance in connecting individuals with community resources and recovery-oriented social activities. The position also involves training new staff and coordinating Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) groups, with some evening and weekend availability required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to 988 and warmline inquiries, conduct assessments, and provide crisis counseling.
  • Engage in outreach initiatives, including regular presentations at community organizations.
  • Develop and update monthly outreach schedules to enhance community involvement.
  • Collaborate with community agencies to arrange presentations that foster awareness and partnership.
  • Lead training workshops for new employees focused on substance use disorder (SUD).
  • Assist in managing intake processes and ensure adequate coverage for IOP groups in the absence of the Clinical Supervisor.
  • Provide mentoring, facilitate peer-led support groups, and conduct outreach to individuals in recovery.
  • Offer personalized peer mentoring sessions and lead support groups to cultivate a sense of community.
  • Share lived experiences and instill hope to motivate individuals on their recovery paths.
  • Help individuals access community resources, services, and recovery support activities beyond our organization.
  • Conduct assessments and intakes to determine suitable services for consumers.
  • Identify and recommend appropriate consumers for group participation based on their needs.
  • Deliver psycho-educational groups utilizing evidence-based practices to empower participants.
Client Follow-up and Advocacy
  • Monitor referrals related to medical, behavioral, and substance use services to ensure follow-up and attendance.
  • Conduct outreach to consumers who have missed appointments or need additional support.
  • Ensure follow-up on self-care, medication adherence, service plan compliance, and other psychosocial concerns.
  • Support the 24-hour crisis hotline.
  • Be available for evening, weekend, and holiday shifts as needed.
  • Assist consumers with insurance and benefits to maintain continuity of care.
  • Complete necessary documentation for consumer records and service access.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and external service providers to deliver comprehensive support.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to meet departmental or organizational objectives.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Understanding of contemporary principles and practices in behavioral healthcare, substance use, and mental health.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and follow-up abilities.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks, prioritize competing demands, and excel in a dynamic environment.
Required Licenses or Experience
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Certification as a Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS).
  • Valid driver's license.
