We are seeking to fill a full-time position for a Peer Recovery Specialist who will engage consistently with clinical personnel, including RNs, APNs, NPs, and psychiatrists, concerning client matters and the delivery of care.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Director, the Peer Recovery Specialist is tasked with performing screenings and referrals for substance use, co-occurring disorders, and additional supportive services. This role serves as a bridge between consumers, community programs, and local resources. Drawing from personal recovery experiences, the Peer Recovery Specialist collaborates with consumers to foster a sense of hope and share valuable insights. Services provided encompass individual peer mentoring, peer-led support groups, outreach via phone, and assistance in connecting consumers with community resources and recovery-oriented social activities. Flexibility in scheduling, including some evenings and weekends, may be necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitates peer-led support groups, conducts outreach, and offers assistance to individuals in recovery, promoting a message of hope and sharing personal experiences.
  • Provides individualized peer mentoring and outreach to consumers in need.
  • Supports consumers in navigating community resources and engaging in recovery support activities beyond SERV.
  • May assist in the execution of assessments and intake processes.
  • Identifies suitable consumers for participation in groups or services.
  • Effectively conducts psycho-educational groups as assigned.
  • Demonstrates the ability to cultivate professional therapeutic relationships.
  • Monitors medical, behavioral, substance use, and other referrals made for consumers to ensure follow-up and attendance at appointments.
  • Engages in outreach to consumers who have not adhered to necessary treatment schedules.
  • Ensures appropriate follow-up regarding self-care, medication management, service plan adherence, and other relevant psycho-social issues.
  • Assists consumers with insurance or benefits to maintain their status.
  • Completes or aids in the completion of necessary documentation for consumer records.
  • Collaborates effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team and external service providers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Certification as a Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS).
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Familiarity with contemporary principles and practices in behavioral healthcare, substance use, and mental health.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and follow-up skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks, prioritize competing demands, and thrive in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and sound judgments.
