Under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, the Crisis Recovery Support Specialist plays a vital role in addressing 988 and warmline inquiries, performing assessments, and providing crisis counseling. This role serves as a bridge between clients, community resources, and various services. Drawing from personal recovery experiences, the specialist collaborates with individuals to convey messages of hope and share valuable insights. Key services include personalized peer mentoring, leading peer support groups, conducting outreach via phone, and helping individuals connect with community resources and recovery-oriented social activities. The role also involves training new staff and coordinating Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) groups, with some evening and weekend availability required.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to 988 and warmline inquiries, conduct assessments, and provide crisis counseling.
- Engage in outreach initiatives, including regular presentations at community organizations.
- Design and update monthly outreach schedules to enhance community involvement.
- Collaborate with community agencies to arrange presentations that foster awareness and partnership.
- Facilitate training workshops for new employees focusing on substance use disorders (SUD).
- Support the management of intake processes and ensure adequate coverage for IOP groups in the absence of the Clinical Supervisor.
- Deliver mentoring, peer-led support groups, and outreach to individuals in recovery.
- Conduct one-on-one mentoring sessions and facilitate support groups to nurture a sense of community.
- Share personal experiences and instill hope to motivate individuals on their recovery paths.
- Assist clients in navigating community resources and recovery support activities beyond our organization.
- Perform assessments and intakes to determine suitable services for clients.
- Identify and recommend clients for group participation based on their individual needs.
- Conduct psycho-educational groups utilizing evidence-based practices to empower participants.
- Monitor referrals related to medical, behavioral, and substance use services to ensure follow-up and attendance.
- Conduct outreach to clients who have missed appointments or need additional support.
- Ensure appropriate follow-up on self-care, medication adherence, and other psychosocial concerns.
- Assist with the 24-hour crisis hotline as needed.
- Be available for evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
- Support clients in accessing insurance and benefits to maintain continuity of care.
- Complete necessary documentation for client records and service access facilitation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and external service providers to deliver comprehensive support.
- Perform additional duties as required to meet departmental or organizational objectives.
- Understanding of contemporary practices in behavioral health, substance use, and mental health.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and follow-up capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and excel in a dynamic environment.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Certification as a Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS).
- Valid driver's license.
