Position Overview:

The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for executing geotechnical engineering and project management tasks on local and regional assignments. This position is considered a pivotal role within the geotechnical engineering field, requiring collaboration with seasoned professionals to accomplish tasks that involve standard geotechnical methodologies and criteria. The role may necessitate working during evenings and weekends as required, although it primarily involves traditional daytime hours.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct a variety of tasks that include independent evaluations utilizing standard geotechnical techniques and criteria.
  • Prepare and review engineering reports, project plans, and specifications.
  • Oversee and manage work assignments for team members.
  • Develop scopes, budgets, task orders, and schedules for project assignments.
  • Draft proposals for professional services.
  • Collaborate with Professional Engineers, Senior Project Managers, and Principal Consultants on recommendations.
  • Maintain and cultivate client relationships to identify new project opportunities.
  • Participate in client site meetings.
  • Effectively communicate with clients and project teams.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Provide training to technicians and other technical staff.
  • Conduct on-site observations, sample collection, and specific tests as necessary.
  • Occasionally work in both field and laboratory settings.
  • Adhere to safety practices and policies to ensure personal and team safety.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering from an accredited institution is mandatory.
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and listening) and interpersonal abilities are essential.
  • Basic math, calculator, and computer proficiency are required.
  • Ability to interpret and understand work plans is necessary.
  • Flexibility to work off-hours as needed.
  • A valid Driver's License and a reliable driving record are required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Capability to lift, move, push, and pull up to 50 pounds independently, and occasionally over 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and discern sounds.
  • Occasional kneeling and squatting may be required.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Occasional climbing may be necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a geotechnical laboratory setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with DOT soils laboratory operations is advantageous.
  • Experience in construction materials testing is a plus.
  • EIT/FE Certification is highly desirable.
