About the Role

The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Chief of Staff to join the Office of the Director. This is a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, supporting the Director and the Mayor's Office in achieving their strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Partner: Collaborate with the Director and senior leadership team to develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives.
  • Project Management: Manage special projects and initiatives, including intergovernmental affairs, legislative priorities, and external relationships.
  • Communication: Draft and disseminate written communications, including memos, background documents, and presentation materials.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with City Hall, other city agencies, external stakeholders, and internal teams to advance the agency's priorities.
  • Team Leadership: Provide guidance and support to department leaders and staff, including training and professional development opportunities.
  • Operational Support: Assist with tracking follow-up actions, project planning, and providing regular updates on current projects.
Requirements
  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in administrative, analytic, coordinative, supervisory, or liaison responsibilities.
  • Strong communication, policy analysis, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to think creatively and pioneer innovative solutions to complex issues.
  • Meet deadlines and work independently while paying close attention to details.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's and/or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Proven record of initiating and managing complex, interdisciplinary projects involving multiple constituents.
  • Ability to interface with executive-level management and give senior-level presentations.
  • Establish relationships quickly and maximize positive team dynamics.
