Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and evaluate agency-wide non-mandated programs and services
  • Ensure compliance with mandated services and regulations
  • Lead a team of professionals responsible for program operations
  • Develop and coordinate overall planning and design of research and program evaluation initiatives
  • Conduct controlled studies, analysis, and evaluation of programming or initiatives
  • Assess program needs and coordinate activities with other public and private agencies
  • Initiate and prepare requests for grants and ensure implementation and execution of grant requirements
  • Maintain statistics, research, and best practices pertaining to correctional treatments
  • Determine appropriate staffing levels and direct management and coordination of staff
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Public Administration, Personnel Administration, Business Administration, Human Services, Criminal Justice, Political Science, Psychology, or an equivalent/related field
  • Five years of satisfactory experience in an administrative, managerial, or executive capacity, with at least 18 months in a supervisory role
  • Considerable knowledge of modern correctional program needs and risk assessments
  • Significant knowledge of laws, regulations, consent decrees, minimum standards, and other legal mandates affecting the field of correction and the criminal justice system
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective liaison with executive staff members and other stakeholders
  • Ability to draft proposals and negotiate at the highest levels to obtain grants
Preferred Skills
  • At least 15 years of experience in corrections, probation, parole, or law enforcement
  • Public Service Loan Forgiveness eligibility
  • Residency in New York City or surrounding counties
