Bay Area Retina Associates is a distinguished practice of highly skilled ophthalmologists focused on advanced retinal therapies, committed to delivering outstanding eye care to our patients. With 9 accessible locations in the Bay Area and over 35 years in the field, our goal is to be the leading retinal care provider in our communities by offering top-notch medical and surgical services.
We are seeking a Patient Services Coordinator to fulfill essential responsibilities, including:
- Registering patients; updating personal and insurance details, collecting necessary signatures, and scheduling follow-up appointments.
- Managing phone communications and coordinating appointments through computerized scheduling systems. Ensuring the maintenance and organization of the scheduling system. Promptly relaying messages to physicians.
- Verifying patient eligibility, securing authorizations, and processing referrals, along with managing drug inventory.
- Handling cash transactions and performing end-of-day reconciliations, including collecting copayments and outstanding balances.
- Conducting patient recalls.
- Sorting incoming mail and faxes.
- Assisting with patient rooming, rinsing, and numbing procedures as required.
Additional Responsibilities: Other tasks as directed by the Clinical Operations Manager or physician.
Accountabilities: Ensuring patient satisfaction through professional and courteous service.
QualificationsRequired Skills:
- Exceptional patient interaction skills.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong communication abilities.
Experience:
- No prior experience necessary.
Preferred Experience:
- At least one year of experience in a medical office or front desk role.
Educational Requirements:
- A minimum of a high school diploma is required. A college degree or ongoing education is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to remain stationary for at least 50% of the scheduled shift, frequently move around the office to assist patients, access supplies, and lift up to 50 pounds. Effective communication with patients to convey necessary medical and financial information is essential, along with accurate documentation in EMR and practice management systems.
Travel Requirements:
- Regular travel to assigned clinic locations may be necessary, with occasional travel to other sites as needed.
Equipment Utilization:
- Position involves using telephones and office equipment such as computers, copiers, faxes, and scanners, as well as medical equipment like pharmaceutical refrigerators.
Unique Position Conditions:
- OSHA Classification Category II. Job responsibilities include no exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues, although there may be occasional unplanned Category I tasks.
