Position: Space Operations Engineer at Impulse

Overview:
As a proficient Space Operations Engineer at Impulse, you will engage in comprehensive spacecraft operations, significantly contributing to the success of our missions. Your responsibilities will encompass the development of operational strategies and the management of control room functions, essential for executing a variety of missions, including payload delivery to low Earth orbit and Mars surface exploration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement operational automation techniques to enhance daily operational tasks
  • Oversee the complete operational lifecycle, from mission proposal and modeling to on-orbit execution
  • Define ground and mission operation specifications, ensuring they align with spacecraft design parameters
  • Develop mission operational protocols and supervise spacecraft operation engineering activities
  • Collaborate with subsystem teams to address operational requirements, promoting interdepartmental cooperation
  • Contribute to spacecraft fault management and autonomy initiatives, improving fault detection and spacecraft control
  • Assist in conducting spacecraft simulator evaluations and in-factory flight vehicle assessments to verify mission designs
  • Support the design and operation of ground segments for effective mission execution
  • Address technical challenges with creative and effective solutions
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related scientific field
  • 3+ years of experience in testing or operational settings
  • 3+ years of foundational software scripting experience
  • Proven track record in project leadership and collaborative teamwork
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Master's degree in engineering or a related scientific discipline
  • 5+ years of programming experience in languages such as Python, C++, or similar
  • 3+ years of experience in writing operational documentation
  • Previous experience in on-orbit operations
Additional Information:
Compensation packages are tailored based on role, level, location, and market alignment. Base pay is customized for each candidate, reflecting their skills, education, experience, technical expertise, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, full-time employees may be eligible for long-term incentives, including stock options, as well as access to medical, vision, and dental benefits, along with a 401(k) retirement plan.
