Job Overview

As a Test Engineer at Impulse Space, you will play a crucial role in the design and execution of test equipment and operations, collaborating with a dynamic and agile team dedicated to developing high-performance spacecraft from innovative designs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and construct fluid, mechanical, and electrical systems to support testing of liquid rocket propulsion and spacecraft systems.
  • Work in collaboration with diverse teams across the organization.
  • Engage with external vendors and contractors to achieve project technical specifications and timelines.
  • Oversee test setups, conduct hardware inspections, and perform troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Execute test operations aimed at swiftly advancing hardware for spaceflight applications.
  • Address technical challenges with creative and effective solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in hardware development testing.
  • Strong foundation in thermal, structural, and fluid analysis.
  • Hands-on operational experience with aerospace testing facilities.
  • Proven track record in test stand design and assembly.
  • Ability to create and communicate fluid P&IDs, electrical, and control schematics effectively.
  • Capable of identifying and sourcing suitable test equipment.
  • Proficient in data acquisition and control methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects and collaborate effectively within small teams.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Experience with complex systems, including cryogenic propellants, high-pressure gas systems, hydraulics, and combustion devices.
  • Familiarity with components such as valves, regulators, sensors, and power supplies, along with hands-on skills in tube fabrication, metalworking, and wiring.
  • Prior hardware testing experience with rocket engines or spacecraft.
  • Experience in a startup or agile development environment.
Additional Information:

Compensation is determined by role, level, location, and market alignment. Individual compensation and base pay are assessed on a case-by-case basis, influenced by job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities, and internal equity. Full-time hires may also be eligible for long-term incentives, including stock options, and have access to medical, vision, and dental coverage, as well as a 401(k) retirement plan.
