Employee Relations Job Description:

  • Collaborate with HR peers to manage overall employment risk and employee relations, from problem identification through mediation to resolution.
  • Partner with the Labor Relations team to optimize practices and policies for represented and non-represented employees.
  • Manage employee relations issues by providing guidance, counsel, and direction to managers and supervisors.
  • Conduct investigations and address employee issues and complaints in partnership with HR Business Partners and Labor Relations, making recommendations on appropriate courses of action.
  • Ensure employee relations cases are handled fairly and consistently in a timely fashion and comply with company values and applicable laws.
  • Use sound business judgment to minimize organizational risk while directing management-level staff on appropriate workplace practices.
  • Develop effective relationships with HR Business Partners and other business stakeholders to ensure collaborative solutions.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state employment law and compliance requirements.
  • Evaluate organizational climate and issues, and facilitate improvements in the employee experience in conjunction with HR Business Partners.
  • Review and advise managers on creating Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) for employees not meeting performance expectations. Assist managers with the PIP process by attending meetings, taking notes, and finding creative ways to improve employee performance.
  • Act as a liaison among employees, managers, and unions (if applicable) when making employment-related decisions; Attend legal hearings (e.g., Support other HR Business Partner responsibilities as needed.
