# Project Overview:

Bechtel National, Inc. (BNI), the government services division of Bechtel, stands as a leading provider to U.S. and British government departments and agencies. Our portfolio includes numerous large-scale, pioneering projects in government site management, environmental restoration, defense, space, energy, and national security. This role will support a significant project at the Y-12 National Security Complex, which is a multi-year, multi-billion-dollar initiative focused on enriched uranium operations.

The project is a crucial investment in modernizing facilities, enhancing operational efficiency, improving safety standards, and ensuring long-term capabilities in enriched uranium processing.

The construction project operates on various schedules, which may necessitate overtime, weekend, and night shift work as required by business needs.

Eligibility for this position requires U.S. citizenship; candidates must provide proof of citizenship to gain site access. Successful candidates will complete a security questionnaire and pass site access requirements. All employees are subject to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment and must be able to obtain a security clearance, as applicable.

# Job Summary:

In this capacity, you will oversee and coordinate subcontractor planning, safety, quality, and technical activities on a complex project involving multiple stakeholders. Your field supervision will ensure that operations are scheduled effectively and that work methods are executed safely.

# Major Responsibilities:

Level 1

  • Leadership / Supervision (Discipline Supervision up to 25 craft).
  • Directs craft activities as assigned.
  • Schedules and reviews work performed by each craft.
  • Determines workforce requirements.
  • Coordinates operational plans within the designated area.
  • Monitors tool and equipment usage on-site.
  • Prepares requisitions for tools and consumables, ensuring crafts have necessary resources.
  • Ensures compliance with current design documents and approved changes.
  • Verifies that construction operations and subcontractor performance meet specifications and stay within schedules and budgets.
  • Collaborates with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals to interpret engineering design documents and vendor specifications.
  • Coordinates engineering solutions with subcontractors and craft professionals.

Level 2

  • Leadership / Supervision (Discipline Supervision up to 50 craft).
  • Directs craft activities as assigned.
  • Schedules and reviews work performed by each craft.
  • Oversees preparation of requisitions for tools and consumables, ensuring crafts have necessary resources.
  • Oversees engineering solutions with subcontractors and craft professionals.

# Education and Experience Requirements:

Level 1

  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Must be physically capable of conducting field inspections and participating in project walk-downs, which may involve extensive walking, climbing, and maneuvering in confined spaces.

Level 2

  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.

# Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and experience in DOE, DOD, and/or commercial nuclear construction projects.
  • Understanding of single or multi-discipline construction or engineering operations.
  • Familiarity with supervisory functions related to field activities.
  • Previous experience as an Electrical Field Superintendent in nuclear settings.
  • Recent experience in commercial nuclear power plant construction.
  • Current holder of a Master Electrician License.
  • Self-starters with high motivation and ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Good working knowledge of current design codes and standards such as NEC, NESC, NFPA 70E, and NQA-1 requirements.
