Electrical Engineering Field Specialist

Position Overview
Assigned to the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) Construction organization, this role focuses on Electrical Field Engineering. The primary responsibilities include ensuring that assigned electrical commodities are installed in accordance with quality standards, design specifications, and relevant nuclear codes, all while adhering to project timelines and budget constraints. The position requires a solid understanding of construction engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with client representatives to ensure alignment on project goals.
- Collaborate with operational teams to facilitate smooth project execution.
- Support subcontractors by interfacing with relevant teams.
- Evaluate design documents for feasibility and constructability.
- Conduct material takeoffs and manage procurement processes.
- Utilize software tools such as SetRoute, BPS, and TeamWorks for project management.
- Oversee the preparation of work packages and assist in scheduling activities.
- Interpret design drawings and monitor equipment installation.
- Ensure proper storage and warehousing practices to protect the environment.
- Review specifications, purchase orders, and technical documents to provide onsite guidance.
- Coordinate with site management regarding contract administration.
- Assist in the preparation of construction estimates, budgets, and schedules.
- Verify vendor bids for compliance with specifications.
- Integrate construction automation plans with project controls.
Qualifications and Skills
Basic Qualifications
- Level 1: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field with 6 years of experience, or 12 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- Level 2: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field with 9 years of experience, or 15 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain necessary security clearances.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening and background check is required.
- Physical capability to conduct field inspections and navigate construction sites.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience with DOE, DOD, or commercial nuclear construction projects is essential.
- Self-motivated and able to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong knowledge of current design codes and standards, including NFPA and NQA-1.
- Familiarity with environmental compliance standards for NNSA/DOE projects.
- Understanding of safety programs aimed at achieving zero accidents.
Preferred Qualifications
- Recent experience in commercial nuclear projects as an Electrical Field Engineer or Area Lead.
- Experience in reviewing multidisciplinary field drawings and plans.
- Knowledge of Standard Work Processes Procedures (SWPPs) and related applications.
- Ability to develop construction work packages and utilize Project Wise for system viewing.
- Familiarity with Power BI Database and related reporting tools.
