About the Role

Talascend is seeking a highly skilled Construction Electrical Field Engineer to join our team in Oak Ridge, TN. As a key member of our construction organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of electrical-based commodities on the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interface with client personnel (DOE) to ensure compliance with quality standards, design specifications, and nuclear codes and standards.
  • Interfacing with CNS Y12 (Plant Operations) to coordinate construction activities.
  • Interfacing with the STR's to support the Subcontractor and ensure smooth project execution.
  • Reviewing design documents for constructability and identifying potential issues.
  • Conducting material takeoffs and preparing quantity listings of field-purchased material and equipment.
  • Directing the preparation of work packages and ensuring compliance with project schedules and budgets.
  • Assisting supervision with the design of temporary construction facilities and ensuring the preparation of as-built drawings and other job plans.
  • Assisting supervision with scheduling work activities and ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Interpreting design drawings/documents and monitoring equipment installation.
  • Planning for the delivery of construction materials and equipment and ensuring proper warehousing and storage.
  • Reviewing specifications, purchase orders, subcontracts, inspection reports, delivery schedules, instruction manuals, and technical data to assist and advise onsite.
  • Coordinating with site management on activities affecting contract administration operations.
  • Reviewing the preparation of construction estimates, cost, schedules, and budgets.
  • Determining that vendors' bids for material and/or equipment are in conformance to specifications.
  • Coordinating the interfacing between the construction automation plan and the Project Controls program at the job-site.
Requirements
  • B.S. Degree in Engineering or similar from an accredited program and 6 years of experience, or in lieu of degree, 12 years of related experience.
  • Level 2: B.S. Degree in Engineering or similar from an accredited program and 9 years of experience, or in lieu of degree, 15 years of related experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen and eligible for a facility-specific clearance.
  • Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check, including verification of employment and education.
  • Must be able to obtain a site security badge for access to the worksite.
  • Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs, which may require extensive walking, climbing, and use of personal protective equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience of DOE, DOD, and/or commercial nuclear construction projects is required.
  • Candidate should be a self-starter, highly motivated, requiring little supervision, and be able to work well in a team environment.
  • Candidate should have a good working knowledge of current design codes and standards, such as NFPA and NQA-1 requirements.
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance standards required on NNSA/DOE projects is desired.
  • Knowledge of the client's Zero Accidents safety program is desired.
Desired Qualifications
  • Recent commercial nuclear experience at a client EPC Project.
  • Recent experience as an Electrical Field Engineer or Area Lead Electrical Field Engineer.
  • Experience in reviewing field drawings/plans of different disciplines and may include P&ID's.
  • Working knowledge of the client Standard Work Processes Procedures (SWPPs) and the related client Standard Application Programs (SAPs).
  • Developing construction work packages.
  • Familiar with Power BI Database.
  • Utilize Project Wise for viewing scoped systems.
  • Familiar with Quantity Unit Rate Report, Code of Accounts, and descriptions.
