Project Overview:
The Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) represents a significant multi-year, multi-billion-dollar initiative, designed to establish a state-of-the-art complex for enriched uranium operations in alignment with Y-12 missions. This project stands as one of the Department of Energy's most substantial investments in Tennessee since the Manhattan Project and is among the largest construction undertakings by the National Nuclear Security Administration. Upon completion, UPF will replace an outdated facility with modern infrastructure, enhance operational efficiency, improve worker safety, and ensure enriched uranium capabilities for the future.

Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with client representatives and plant operations personnel.
- Engage with subcontractors to support project execution and review design documents for feasibility.
- Conduct material takeoffs and manage field purchases, including requisition initiation and inspection of received materials.
- Develop work packages and assist in the design of temporary construction facilities through field sketches.
- Aid in scheduling work activities and interpreting design documents.
- Oversee equipment installation and plan for the delivery of construction materials.
- Ensure proper warehousing and environmental protection measures are in place.
- Review specifications, purchase orders, and technical data to provide onsite guidance.
- Coordinate with site management on contract administration matters.
- Assist in preparing construction estimates, budgets, and schedules.
- Evaluate vendor bids for compliance with specifications.
- Facilitate the integration of construction automation plans with project controls at the job site.

Qualifications:
Basic Requirements:
- Level 1: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution with 6 years of relevant experience, or 12 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
- Level 2: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution with 9 years of relevant experience, or 15 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
- U.S. Citizenship is mandatory for this role, which requires facility-specific clearance.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening and background check is required.
- Ability to obtain a site security badge for worksite access.
- Physical capability to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs, which may involve extensive walking, climbing, and maneuvering in confined spaces.
- Experience with DOE, DOD, or commercial nuclear construction projects is essential.
- Self-motivated and able to work effectively in a team environment with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with current design codes and standards, including NFPA and NQA-1 requirements, is expected.
- Knowledge of environmental compliance standards applicable to NNSA/DOE projects is required.
- Understanding of Bechtel’s Zero Accidents safety program is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Recent experience in commercial nuclear projects, particularly with Bechtel EPC projects.
- Background as an Electrical Field Engineer or Area Lead Electrical Field Engineer.
- Proficiency in reviewing field drawings/plans across various disciplines, including P&IDs.
- Knowledge of Bechtel Standard Work Processes Procedures (SWPPs) and related applications.
- Experience in developing construction work packages and utilizing Project Wise for system viewing.

Field engineers may be required to lift and move materials weighing up to 60 pounds and must possess adequate vision abilities for safety.
