Position Overview
Assigned to the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) Construction organization, this role focuses on Electrical Field Engineering. Key responsibilities include ensuring that assigned UPF Electrical commodities are installed in accordance with quality standards, design specifications, and nuclear codes, while adhering to project timelines and budget constraints. The position involves performing diverse construction engineering tasks that necessitate a solid understanding of construction engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with client representatives.
- Collaborate with Plant Operations.
- Support subcontractor activities through effective communication.
- Evaluate design documents for feasibility.
- Conduct material takeoffs and manage field purchases.
- Utilize software tools such as SetRoute, BPS, and TeamWorks.
- Prepare comprehensive work packages.
- Assist in designing temporary construction facilities and ensure accurate documentation of 'as built' drawings.
- Support scheduling of work activities.
- Interpret design drawings and documents accurately.
- Oversee equipment installation and plan for material delivery.
- Ensure proper warehousing and environmental protection measures are in place.
- Review specifications, purchase orders, and technical data to provide onsite assistance.
- Coordinate with site management on contract administration matters.
- Assist in preparing construction estimates, schedules, and budgets.
- Verify vendor bids for compliance with specifications.
- Coordinate construction automation plans with project controls at the job site.
Qualifications and Skills
Basic Qualifications
- Level 1: B.S. Degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution with 6 years of experience, or 12 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- Level 2: B.S. Degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution with 9 years of experience, or 15 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain necessary security clearances. Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check, including verification of employment and education. Physical capability to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs is essential.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience with DOE, DOD, and/or commercial nuclear construction projects is required.
- Self-motivated, capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong knowledge of current design codes and standards, including NFPA and NQA-1.
- Understanding of environmental compliance standards relevant to NNSA/DOE projects.
- Familiarity with safety programs focused on achieving 'Zero Accidents'.
Preferred Qualifications
- Recent experience in commercial nuclear projects as an Electrical Field Engineer or Area Lead Electrical Field Engineer.
- Experience in reviewing multidisciplinary field drawings/plans.
- Knowledge of Standard Work Processes Procedures (SWPPs) and related applications.
- Experience in developing construction work packages.
- Familiarity with Power BI Database and Project Wise for system viewing.
