We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to become a vital member of our XA Engineering team in Geismar, LA.

In this role, you will be accountable for the design and execution of capital project enhancements within **Utilities, Infrastructure, and EO Units at the Geismar facility**. Collaborating closely with teams from Operations, Technology, Design, EHS, and Procurement, you will ensure the safe and efficient realization of plant expansion, process optimization, and infrastructure enhancement initiatives. This position offers an excellent opportunity to showcase your interdisciplinary expertise in civil, piping, mechanical, and electrical/instrumentation fields. You may also serve as a discipline engineer for designated projects. This role is situated within the site engineering group and may extend support across various plant operations.

**As a Senior Project Engineer, you contribute to our success by...**

+ Defining project scopes, generating and/or acquiring cost estimates, and preparing funding requests for project investments up to $5M. You will also ensure that necessary project safety evaluations are conducted as required both prior to and following approval, utilizing applicable value-improving practices (VIPs) to enhance project scope and expenditures.

+ Ensuring adherence to all environmental, safety, and health regulations, while fostering a secure working environment for project execution.

+ Building and maintaining relationships with assigned project manufacturing representatives to manage projects from initial scoping and funding through detailed engineering and procurement, startup and commissioning, and ultimately final documentation and closure. Additionally, you will engage and contribute on engineering discipline teams through ad hoc assignments with other Site and North America engineers to review, update, and develop project management procedures, guidelines, standards, and practices.

+ Coordinating necessary process and design engineering resources (from the site or corporate groups or external engineering vendors) to prepare engineering design deliverables and procure equipment, fabricated materials, and services. You will also maintain SAP project data entries, monitor project progress through scheduling and other tools, perform project status reporting, and manage expenditures through appropriate tracking, forecasting, and adjustments.

+ Conducting procurement activities as necessary, including drafting specifications, issuing requisitions, evaluating bids, and liaising with vendors.

+ Ensuring thorough documentation of files, records, databases, and drawings to comply with regulatory and BASF standards, while promoting the identification of lessons learned from completed projects to enhance work practices. Additionally, you will mentor and guide junior engineers, including participants in the Professional Development Program.

**If you...**

+ Hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

+ Possess 3+ years of experience in the chemical, petrochemical, or refining industries, preferably in Projects, Maintenance, and/or Operations.

+ Have familiarity with industry/design standards for equipment (Pumps, pipes, exchangers, vessels, etc.).
