Senior Rigger Specialist

The Senior Rigger Specialist is responsible for securely fastening loads in preparation for transportation, utilizing both manual and powered tools to adhere to industry and organizational standards. This role involves attaching pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures, ensuring safe movement of heavy machinery. The Senior Rigger Specialist must possess a nationally recognized certification (NCCER/NCCCO) and will report directly to the Project Manager or Dispatcher.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct thorough inspections of rigging equipment to guarantee safety and reliability prior to any lifting operations.
• Properly align, level, and anchor cranes and other machinery.
• Identify appropriate lift points for effective load handling.
• Assemble and install necessary supporting structures, rigging, hoisting, and pulling equipment.
• Utilize fundamental knowledge of hitch configurations, capabilities, and basic knots to attach rigging and secure loads for movement.
• Connect pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures using bolts, shackles, and clamps.
• Maintain cleanliness and functionality of machinery and component parts.
• Effectively control the movement of heavy equipment in confined spaces.
• Dismantle, maintain, and properly store rigging tools and equipment.
• Manipulate rigging lines and hoists to transport or support various materials, including steel and concrete.
• Provide clear signals or verbal instructions to team members involved in hoisting and load movement to ensure safety.
• Apply mathematical skills to assess weights, balance, and measurements.
• Willingness to travel as necessary.

EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION

Must hold a nationally accredited, third-party certification (NCCER, NCCCO).

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The characteristics of the work environment are essential for the Senior Rigger Specialist to effectively perform the core functions of this position.

• Regularly required to walk, sit, talk, and hear. The employee must frequently stand, use hands for handling or feeling, reach with arms, and may need to climb or balance, as well as stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must be able to lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• May require daily or weekly inspections for equipment verification and measurements.
• Occasional use of a respirator may be necessary.
• May be required to perform duties in proximity to active industrial facilities.
