Capital Projects Coordinator (On-Site)

Sigma Engineers and Constructors Inc is actively seeking an on-site Capital Projects Coordinator to manage various stakeholder interactions at our client’s site. This role demands a proficient blend of technical expertise and managerial acumen to oversee and execute capital projects effectively. The responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to: facilitating the development of project scopes, compiling cost estimates based on established parameters, preparing Authorization For Expenditures (AFEs) for capital funding requests, guiding detailed engineering processes, adhering to Management of Change (MOC) protocols, preparing bid request packages, assessing proposals, requisitioning necessary materials, drafting and planning work orders as required, and monitoring overall project expenditures and timelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Define project parameters, create precise cost estimates, develop execution timelines, and prepare Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) documentation.
  • Manage the budget, design, or coordinate designs, and oversee the implementation of safe, economically viable modifications and enhancements to the facility within the designated timeline.
  • Ensure project execution adheres to within 10% of the approved budget. Responsible for preparing Project Variation Requests (PVR) if budget discrepancies arise. Prepare Scope Change Requests (SCR) if project requirements deviate from the approved scope.
  • Integrate site EHS program requirements into project design scopes and continuously seek improvements for site safety.
  • Prepare procurement bid packages for external equipment and services, evaluate received bids, and make award recommendations.
  • Review construction documentation from external engineering firms and vendors for compliance with project specifications, constructability, and operational efficiency.
  • Effectively communicate project status and progress against scheduled timelines and budgetary targets to management.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, safety, and environmental departments to ensure project compliance with all applicable laws and regulations while meeting end-user requirements.
WHO WE SEEK:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution preferred.
  • A minimum of ten years of engineering-related experience in the oil, gas, or chemical manufacturing sectors preferred.
  • At least three years of experience in capital project development and/or execution required.
  • Three years of in-plant experience preferred, whether as a permanent role or temporary assignment.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) are essential.
  • Strong management capabilities required, including team leadership, decision-making, and prioritization skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software; familiarity with Primavera, ICARUS, or equivalent scheduling and estimating software is a plus.
  • Must be able to obtain Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC).
