Role Summary
The Carrier Sales Specialist plays a crucial role in fostering relationships with our carrier network to ensure optimal service delivery for our clientele. This position involves strategic pricing and management of partial truckload shipments, with a focus on maintaining high standards of service.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide pricing for all partial truckload and expedited shipments.
- Assess pallet dimensions and determine the appropriate equipment required for each shipment.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with partial and expedited carriers.
- Analyze market trends to inform spot quoting strategies.
- Implement tiered pricing for pallet shipments.
- Ensure excellent service delivery by managing relationships with existing carriers.
- Negotiate competitive rates based on current market conditions.
- Communicate shipment details and requirements to carrier dispatch and drivers throughout the shipment lifecycle.
- Monitor shipment progress daily to ensure timely delivery and address any issues that arise during transit.
- Relay shipment statuses and concerns to sales representatives.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in Carrier Sales or Logistics Operations, preferably in a 3PL setting.
- Strong knowledge of partial truckload shipping is essential; familiarity with dry van, reefer, and flatbed loads is advantageous.
- Excellent negotiation skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- A team player who is self-motivated and dedicated to achieving results.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to remain positive and persistent.
- Willingness to take responsibility for shipments outside of standard business hours when necessary.
- A robust book of business in partial freight is preferred.
