Position Overview:

The Root Cause Specialist will collaborate closely with various Business Areas and Dispute Teams to facilitate the execution of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and ultimately enhance Customer Experience by minimizing invoice discrepancies.

The Specialist will analyze intelligence and data provided by the Dispute Team, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the primary issues to address, and will then conduct in-depth data analysis and case research as needed to formulate the RCA strategy.

The Specialist will implement the necessary action plans to resolve identified issues.

They will maintain close communication with all Business Units to ensure adherence to the action plan and that the Dispute Data reflects the desired trends resulting from these initiatives.

The Specialist fosters a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and learning. They will become a key user of the relevant systems, gaining a thorough understanding of the overall Dispute Process.

Additionally, the Specialist will audit system usage, ensuring all teams adhere to standardized operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain data integrity.


Key Responsibilities:

Manage a specific category of cargo claims for both APL and CMA CGM (Dry BCO, Dry NVOCC, or Reefer Cargo).

Utilize insights from Dispute and Data Analysis as the foundation for the RCA Action Plan.

Develop and address all components of the RCA Action Plan, including conducting customer calls and facilitating training sessions.

Understand end-user requirements and influence the development roadmap of the RCA Process/System.

Collaborate with Business Teams to address all upstream issues with partners and stakeholders.

Monitor data trends related to the RCA Action Plan items and the KPIs established to demonstrate improvements.

Address internal Dispute Quality concerns.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Comprehensive understanding of industry processes and standards.

Familiarity with the functions of various internal departments.

Knowledge of detention, demurrage, storage, and monitoring concepts within the shipping sector.

Basic understanding of customer invoicing.

Familiarity with the LARA application.

Ability to manage personal workload and deliverables effectively.

Understanding of data utilization, data skills, and data tools.

Curiosity about data with a focus on data accuracy.

Experience with tools such as Excel, Qlik, Visio, and other reporting applications.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to generate ideas, transitioning from conceptualization to execution.

Excellent interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Outstanding oral and written communication and presentation abilities.

Effective organizational and project management skills.


Education and Experience Requirements:

Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.

1 year of industry experience; 2 years of general experience required.

Demonstrated analytical capabilities.
