The Sonoma County Paratransit (SCPT) Department is dedicated to providing essential services to some of the most vulnerable populations in Sonoma County.

Our Drivers and Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) are the frontline personnel delivering this critical service, ensuring our clients are connected to the community with care and compassion.

Position Overview


We are in search of a highly qualified and experienced Paratransit Operations Supervisor to guide our proactive team responsible for dispatching, booking, routing, and scheduling within the Paratransit department.

Our commitment is to ensure accessibility and convenience for all individuals, and our Paratransit Department is essential in achieving this goal by providing tailored transportation solutions.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a robust analytical mindset, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) best practices, alongside a dedication to ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The Paratransit Operations Supervisor will be crucial in managing daily operations, enhancing efficiency, and providing leadership to meet outstanding customer service standards.


Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership:

  • Oversee the Paratransit administration department, ensuring smooth operations of dispatch, bookings, routing, and scheduling functions.
  • Develop and maintain effective systems and processes to improve efficiency and service quality while optimizing resource utilization and reducing transit time.

Analytical Skills:

  • Apply analytical skills to identify and address complex issues related to scheduling, routing, and operational challenges.
  • Employ data-driven decision-making strategies to enhance overall departmental performance and cost-effectiveness.

DOT & ADA Compliance:

  • Stay informed about Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, policies, and best practices, collaborating with the Associate Director to ensure adherence to all relevant DOT guidelines and standards.
  • Work diligently to guarantee that all operations comply with ADA standards, providing accessible and inclusive transportation services.

Customer Service Excellence:

  • Uphold and enhance the organization's commitment to delivering exceptional customer service to all paratransit riders.
  • Implement and monitor customer feedback mechanisms to drive continuous improvement in service quality.
  • Investigate and resolve complex issues related to scheduling conflicts, service disruptions, and customer concerns.

Staff Development:

  • Design and conduct training programs for staff, emphasizing customer service excellence and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement, highlighting the importance of professionalism and customer satisfaction.

Performance Metrics:

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of operational processes.
  • Implement strategies for ongoing improvement based on performance metrics.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safe operation of Paratransit vehicles, adhering to all laws and rules of the road under varying weather conditions.
  • Participate in company-wide meetings and events, as well as departmental safety and staff meetings.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Transportation Management, or a related field; a Master's degree is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in a managerial role within the transportation sector, preferably in paratransit operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills focused on optimizing operations, with proficiency in Excel.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Department of Transportation regulations and ADA compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience in routing and scheduling, ideally within the nonprofit sector.
  • Ongoing compliance with Department of Transportation FTA required drug screening.
  • Excellent leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service excellence.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals of all ages from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in using transportation management software and tools; familiarity with REI, Issuetrack, Novus, and Drivermate is a plus.
  • Possession of a valid State of California Driver's License (CDL).
  • An acceptable Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) H-6 report and insurability at normal risk rates.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to perform computer work, including standing, walking, reaching above shoulders, and climbing or balancing. Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds and push up to 300 pounds (wheelchair clients). Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Occasionally work outside, driving in various road and weather conditions. May be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.

Expected Hours of Work/Travel:

  • The Paratransit department operates seven days a week, with general operating hours from Monday to Friday 5:00 am-10:00 pm, and Saturday and Sunday 8:45 am-5:00 pm.
  • The Operations Supervisor position is full-time, with general onsite hours from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, along with varied morning, evening, and weekend shifts to meet departmental needs and provide backup to direct reports. Remote work is eligible during off-peak dispatch hours.
  • Local travel is typical for this position.

Compensation:
The anticipated salary that CVNL expects to offer is $(phone number removed) annually, depending on prior experience.

This takes into account a variety of factors considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and external market comparisons for similar positions in similar geographic locations and sizes.

Offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
