Senior Service Engineer

Reporting Structure

This position reports to the Field Service Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Arrange travel logistics promptly upon receiving assignments.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment on-site at all times.
  • Adhere to all ABB and client EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) policies and protocols.
  • Immediately report any EHS violations to the ABB representative at the project site.
  • Complete all mandatory training before commencing any work.
  • Maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Ensure all SOW milestones and deliverables are met according to specified timelines and contractual obligations.
  • Address any issues with Supplier's personnel performing services under this SOW promptly to maintain service quality.
  • Continuously evaluate processes for productivity enhancements and cost reductions.
  • Ensure no employee is dispatched to or completes work related to any U.S. Government job site or end user.
  • Install, maintain, repair, and commission equipment utilized in power delivery, support outages, control systems, and power quality systems.
  • Document assigned tasks and complete reports upon job assignment completion.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with team members and follow guidance from Field Engineers, Lead Field Engineers, and Senior Management.
  • Foster strong client relationships that generate a robust referral business.
  • Utilize job-related software effectively.
  • Act as the primary on-site representative for ABB with the end customer/user and other ABB field personnel.
  • Occasionally assume additional team leader responsibilities to coordinate internal field service activities.
  • Serve as the Project Manager for all assigned ABB product lines, assisting customers with technical understanding of operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various ABB products.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of maintenance actions to identify training needs.
  • Assist customers in enhancing reliability and reducing ownership costs.
  • Provide a single point of contact for the customer, customer team, and all other ABB stakeholders.
  • Support the factory with data collection and timely reporting to facilitate fleet performance analysis, including marketing intelligence and service sales opportunities.
  • Assist customers with spare parts ordering, issue resolution, and provisioning.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to meet business needs related to EHS, Quality, Integrity, etc.
  • Execute duties in Power Delivery, Drive Systems, Control Systems, and more.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of relevant experience preferred, or 9 years of equivalent experience.
  • Proven expertise in repair troubleshooting, shop operations, and testing of assigned programs/hardware.
  • Experience in project management or supervisory roles.
  • Familiarity with various electrical controls and systems, including Mid-Voltage and Low-Voltage Switchgear, Power Panels, Motor Control Centers (MCC), Generators, Transformers, Electromechanical Repairs, Relay Testing, PLCs, DCS, Wiring Diagrams, and Test Equipment.
  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of the National Electrical Code (NEC), Safety Codes, and QA (Local & National).
  • Specialized training in Industrial Drives & HMI, Mark V & Mark VI, GE Mark VIE Controls.
  • Electrical licensing preferred (Journeyman license, Master's License, or Qualifier for state).
  • Willingness to obtain necessary licenses as required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence both customers and peers.
  • Able to collaborate with all levels of maintenance, engineering, and management.
  • Capable of delivering formal presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership abilities.
  • Proven analytical skills and a commitment to quality improvement.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time.
  • Candidates must possess work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in the US.
