Overview of Responsibilities

The successful candidate will possess the authority to make significant decisions regarding the development, design, and production of documentation related to structural repairs, modifications, and inspections. This role requires demonstrated leadership skills, utilizing technical expertise and mentoring abilities. The candidate will evaluate and interpret aviation directives, federal aviation regulations, and company policies to ensure all engineering documentation is compliant.

Key Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with over 10 years of aviation-related experience, or a Master's Degree with 8 years, or a Ph.D. with 4 years of applied engineering experience is required. Alternatively, candidates with 10-15 years in a technical aviation discipline, including 4-6 years in an aviation engineering organization focused on line maintenance and repair design, will also be considered. Candidates with less experience may be eligible for a different grade level.

This position may require working odd hours and weekends, as it involves shift work.

The ideal candidate will be adaptable and capable of thriving in a high-pressure environment with tight deadlines. A comprehensive understanding of the principles, theories, and concepts relevant to this role is essential, along with a broad knowledge of other engineering disciplines. The candidate should be able to foresee the implications of various solutions to technical challenges and provide innovative alternatives to complex problems.

Essential Skills

The candidate must demonstrate strong customer service skills, project management capabilities, and effective written and verbal communication. Multi-tasking abilities, a results-oriented mindset, and strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills are critical.

Exceptional communication skills are necessary to effectively convey information to the team, division, and industry at large. Candidates must embody the company's core values and demonstrate satisfactory performance in their current role.

Preferred Qualifications

A robust background in repair analysis and troubleshooting is advantageous. The ability to generate substantiation reports supporting aircraft airworthiness is preferred, along with a thorough understanding of FAA regulations and maintenance processes.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and CAD software is beneficial. Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience providing engineering liaison support for line aircraft operations, with at least 3 years in the design and analysis of aircraft structural repairs. Experience with various aircraft systems, including pneumatics, hydraulics, and avionics, is also desirable.

The winning candidate will prioritize safety and possess a strong understanding of composite and sheet metal repairs, as well as knowledge of both Airbus and Boeing structures. Previous experience in the airline, military, OEM, or MRO sectors is strongly preferred.
