**Comprehensive Planning Manager**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Planner to join our team at the City of Fort Myers, FL. As a key member of our planning department, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our city through the development and implementation of comprehensive plans, policies, and programs.
Key Responsibilities- Comprehensive Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive plans, policies, and programs that promote sustainable growth, economic development, and community well-being.
- Urban Development: Analyze and evaluate urban development proposals, including annexations, land use changes, and zoning requests, to ensure they align with the city's comprehensive plan and policies.
- Historic Preservation: Process and analyze Certificate of Review applications, and present findings to the Historic Preservation Commission, to ensure the preservation of historic properties and districts.
- Community Engagement: Engage with property owners, citizens, engineers, architects, and contractors to discuss and educate regarding the city's comprehensive plan and historic preservation issues.
- Research and Analysis: Conduct research and analysis to support the development of comprehensive plans, policies, and programs, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Education: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university with a degree in Planning or Public Administration.
- Experience: Five to eight years' experience in a planning or regulatory environment or related work, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certifications: American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification or ability to obtain within one year of date of hire.
- Skills: Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, and ability to operate necessary equipment, including personal computer, printer, calculator, copier, and other standard office equipment.
