Description

We are looking for a committed Transportation Planning Specialist to become a vital part of our Department of Transportation team. This position requires a unique combination of organizational, technical, and analytical abilities to oversee transportation planning functions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing essential components of the County's comprehensive plan, Land Development Code, and Administrative Codes, while leading planning initiatives aimed at enhancing transportation infrastructure to support community growth. This role involves the preparation of planning documents and the delivery of comprehensive reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare the annual Public Facilities Level of Service and Concurrency Inventory and Projections Report to assess public facility capacities.
  • Lead and manage evaluations for zoning and Comprehensive Plan Amendment (CPA) cases, and actively engage in public meetings and hearings with relevant committees on transportation and infrastructure planning issues.
  • Maintain and revise the Transportation Element/Maps and other infrastructure components of the comprehensive plan, along with related Land Development Code and Administrative Code sections.
  • Represent the Department of Transportation (DOT) at the Technical Advisory Committee of the Lee County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), collaborating with MPO staff on the Long Range Transportation Plan.
  • Conduct annual updates of the project scoring spreadsheet and perform cost estimations for transportation Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) priorities.
  • Oversee contract management for periodic updates of various impact fee studies.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree in planning, engineering, or a related field, combined with two years of professional experience in a government agency or private firm focused on city, county, regional, or state transportation planning or engineering.
  • Experience in the administration and direction of transportation planning activities is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required.
