Position Summary:
We are currently seeking a full-time Patient Financial Counselor to enhance our operations. This role is pivotal in managing the patient responsibility segment of our Accounts Receivable (AR) process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Thoroughly understand and communicate the Financial Policies of DNA Comprehensive Therapy Services to ensure patient comprehension.
- Conduct benefits investigations and educate patients about their insurance plans.
- Collect payments and monitor outstanding balances to reduce Accounts Receivable (AR).
- Collaborate effectively with the billing department and front desk to maintain a clear understanding of each patient's financial plan.
- Facilitate Point of Service Collections for any outstanding patient balances.
- Assist patients in setting up payment plans when necessary.
- Guide patients through Care Credit applications and explain the terms.
- Adhere to departmental procedures regarding account processing.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in common office software, including Word and Excel.
- Comprehensive understanding of insurance benefits and the ability to interpret explanation of benefits forms.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to educate patients on their financial responsibilities with empathy.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
- At least 2 years of experience in accounts receivable within a medical billing environment.
- Experience in customer service, both via phone and in-person.
