Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a full-time Patient Financial Counselor to enhance our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in managing the patient responsibility segment of our Accounts Receivable (AR).
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure comprehensive understanding of our Financial Policies among patients.
- Communicate financial terms clearly to patients, ensuring they grasp payment expectations.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of insurance benefits, coordination of benefits, and payer networks.
- Engage with patients in a friendly manner while providing education on financial responsibilities.
- Accurately estimate patient responsibilities and facilitate collections.
- Collaborate with billing and front desk teams to ensure clarity regarding financial plans.
- Manage Point of Service Collections for outstanding patient balances.
- Set up payment plans for patients unable to pay their balance in full.
- Assist patients with Care Credit applications and educate them on terms.
- Follow departmental procedures for account processing and collections.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in common office software, including Word and Excel.
- Thorough understanding of insurance benefits and ability to interpret explanation of benefits forms.
- Capable of educating patients about their financial obligations and our policies.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills, demonstrating empathy and understanding towards patients.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in accounts receivable within a medical billing environment.
- Experience in public interactions, both via phone and in-person, is essential.
