Position Summary:
We are currently seeking a full-time Patient Financial Counselor to enhance our operations. This role is essential in managing the patient financial responsibilities associated with Accounts Receivable (AR). The Patient Financial Counselor will ensure that our financial policies are clearly communicated and understood by all patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Thoroughly understand and explain DNA Comprehensive Therapy Services' Financial Policies to patients.
- Conduct benefits investigations and educate patients on their insurance plans.
- Collect payments and monitor outstanding balances to minimize patient Accounts Receivable.
- Collaborate with the billing department and front desk to ensure a comprehensive understanding of each patient's financial plan.
- Facilitate Point of Service Collections for any outstanding patient balances.
- Assist patients in setting up payment plans in accordance with practice guidelines.
- Guide patients through Care Credit applications and explain the terms effectively.
- Process accounts following established Pre-Collection policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in common office software, including Word and Excel.
- Extensive knowledge of insurance benefits and the ability to interpret explanation of benefits forms.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to educate patients on their financial responsibilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Demonstrate compassion and empathy while addressing patient concerns.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in accounts receivable within a medical billing environment.
- Experience in public interaction, both via telephone and in-person, is essential.
