Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sports Turf Director to join our team at Stanford University. As a key member of our Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of our athletic playing fields.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of staff to ensure the maintenance and upkeep of our athletic fields
  • Research and implement the latest innovations in field maintenance and irrigation
  • Develop strategic plans for equipment, staffing, and water efficiency
  • Oversee project activities and ensure integration with larger unit goals
  • Clarify and resolve problems spanning multiple areas or technical fields
  • Manage and develop budgets for area of responsibility
  • Participate in departmental strategic management and provide input into long-range financial planning
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Two or more years of experience managing facilities operations and maintenance staff
  • Six or more years of sports turf management experience preferred
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work on deadline and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously
  • Strong knowledge of current field trends and technologies
