Position Summary & Responsibilities:

Position Overview:

The Equipment Operator Specialist role is essential in overseeing operations and supporting the supervisor in Washington, Kansas. This position entails providing direct supervision to the maintenance team on-site.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Monitoring team performance to ensure quality and efficiency of work. Operating specialized machinery such as loaders, backhoes, motor graders, and distributors to execute complex maintenance tasks. Conducting preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment. Assisting in the preparation and upkeep of resource management system reports and records related to material, equipment, and personnel utilization. Overseeing snow and ice management operations.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

A minimum of two years of experience in highway and bridge construction and/or maintenance, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity. A valid driver's license at the time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Post-Offer/Pre-employment Requirements:

A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) must be obtained within 90 days of hire, with training provided at no cost to the employee. This position is subject to pre-employment physical testing, and passing the screening is a condition of employment. This CDL position is subject to drug and alcohol testing under the authority of the US Department of Transportation, requiring the selected candidate to pass a DOT pre-employment/pre-duty drug test as a condition of employment. Participation in random testing, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, return-to-duty, and follow-up testing is also required. Any Commercial Driver who has received a Confirmed Positive Result or the Equivalent and has not successfully completed all Rehabilitation Program requirements and follow-up testing requirements is not eligible for this position. Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate required in accordance with Executive Order. Each applicant selected for a State of Kansas job vacancy must apply for a Tax Clearance Certificate within 10 days from the date of the offer letter.
