Position Overview:
The Certified Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in assisting pharmacists by reviewing, compounding, and dispensing medications. This position operates within a pharmaceutical warehouse environment under the guidance of a licensed Pharmacist.
Key Responsibilities:
- Processes medication and supply requests for distribution to healthcare facilities within the health system.
- Commits to working at least one full weekend (Saturday & Sunday) each month.
- Coordinates deliveries to clients using various couriers while ensuring adherence to temperature regulations (e.g., cold chain, room temperature).
- Records pharmaceutical distribution activities for medications and equipment, ensuring compliance with quality control standards using both automated and manual systems.
- Addresses and prioritizes customer inquiries regarding pharmacy distribution or compounding services.
- Employs automated dispensing technology and relevant software to fulfill customer orders efficiently.
- Manages inventory by receiving, restocking, and rotating products, while overseeing expiration date management.
- Contributes to initiatives aimed at process improvement.
- Participates in regulatory compliance inspections and documentation related to medication storage areas.
Additional Information:
Education Requirements:
- No specific educational background required if other qualifications are met. Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training program is preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
- Must be registered with the NC Board of Pharmacy unless currently enrolled in a PharmD program.
- CPhT certification from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA is required unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
Professional Experience Requirements:
Previous experience as a pharmacy technician is preferred, along with experience in inventory management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to stand for extended periods, typically throughout an 8-hour shift.
- Capability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds repeatedly during the shift.
- Must be able to reach overhead to access stored products.
