Job Overview:

Trinity College Dublin invites applications for a tenure-track position in socio-cultural anthropology within the Department of Sociology and Anthropology. The successful candidate will focus on regional expertise in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, Central Asia, and/or the Middle East. The rank for this position is lecturer. Preference will be given to applicants with a strong background in environmental anthropology and prior experience in teaching courses independently. The selected individual will be responsible for instructing foundational courses such as Introduction to Anthropology and Humans and the Environment, as well as developing advanced courses tailored to their specialization.

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology provides a comprehensive curriculum that includes cultural anthropology, archaeology, and biological anthropology. Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:
  • Teach a combination of introductory and advanced courses, maintaining a 3/2 teaching load that meets the requirements for the anthropology major and interdisciplinary programs.
  • Develop a research agenda that includes publishing scholarly work.
  • Contribute to service within the department, the university, and the broader academic community.
Appointment Details

This position is a 9-month appointment with a standard pre-tenure probationary period.

Qualifications

Education

Required: A completed doctorate in Anthropology by the specified date.

Experience

Required: Demonstrated expertise in environmental anthropology and regional specialization in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, Central Asia, and/or the Middle East.
