Role Responsibilities:
The University of Saint Joseph is seeking qualified candidates to serve as adjunct faculty within the Criminal Justice and Restorative Justice Program. Candidates should possess teaching experience in the field of Criminal Justice. The program is looking for individuals with at least a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice or a related discipline.
Current teaching opportunities include:
CRMJ 245 60: Police in the Community: This course investigates the evolving relationship between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve, analyzing the historical, social, and political contexts of police-community interactions while focusing on strategies to build mutual trust and cooperation. The hybrid format will include in-person sessions and online instruction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and/or revise course syllabi.
- Prepare lectures, assignments, and assessments for students.
- Grade assignments promptly and provide constructive feedback to enhance academic success.
- Maintain regular office hours to support students, with a minimum of one additional hour weekly.
- Participate in program and departmental meetings as required.
- Exhibit knowledge of contemporary teaching methods for college-level courses and deliver clear instruction.
- Utilize technology effectively to enhance teaching and learning.
- Adhere to the academic calendar by attending all scheduled class periods.
- Submit mid-semester and final grades to the Registrar's Office on time and ensure all course records are left with the department chair.
- Foster positive relationships with students and faculty to promote a supportive learning environment.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree or higher in Criminal Justice or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Preferred qualifications include industry experience, a terminal degree, and/or prior college-level teaching experience.
- Cultural competency to engage with a diverse student and employee population.
- Alignment with the mission of the University of Saint Joseph.
Additional Information:
Teaching assignments are part-time and contingent upon student enrollment and departmental needs. Regular attendance is crucial to demonstrate reliability in fulfilling job responsibilities.
Compensation:
- Non-Terminal Degree/0-6 Credits Experience = $3,000.00
- Terminal Degree/0-6 Credits Experience = $3,200.00
- Non-Terminal Degree/7+ Credits Experience = $3,400.00
- Terminal Degree/7+ Credits Experience = $3,700.00
