Job Title: Human Services Worker

Community Partners in Action (CPA) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Human Services Worker to join our team in Hartford, CT. As a Human Services Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals in need, promoting recovery, and fostering a culture of respect and empathy.

Job Summary:

The Human Services Worker will provide direct support to residents in our transitional housing program, promoting a safe and secure environment, and encouraging program participation and accountability. This role requires a strong understanding of human services principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and monitor resident activities, ensuring compliance with program policies and maintaining a safe and secure environment.
  • Act as an advocate for residents, encouraging program participation and accountability.
  • Proactively resolve resident conflicts in a solutions-focused manner.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and serve as a positive role model.
  • Promote a culture of respect, empathy, and belonging, and work to eliminate unconscious bias or discrimination.
  • Assist with meeting resident needs as necessary and appropriate.
  • Implement all agency/program policies and procedures governing facility operations.
  • Ensure all visitors have proper identification prior to entering the facility.
  • Search all bags brought in or out of the facility, conducting pat and pocket searches on residential clients.
  • Conduct client intake/admission and orientation after hours.
  • Complete all necessary documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma/GED, associate or bachelor's degree.
  • Prior experience working in the human services field with justice-involved clients with substance abuse, mental health, or other behavior issues is preferred.
  • Ability to interact with multicultural populations, crisis management skills, and a valid CT driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Bilingual ability (Spanish/English) is desired.
