Job Opportunity: Adjunct Faculty - English

We are seeking a qualified Adjunct Faculty member to teach English courses at the University of Saint Joseph. The successful candidate will have a Master's degree or higher in English, Writing, Composition, Literature, or a related field.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and/or update course syllabi
  • Prepare lectures, projects, homework, assessments, and other student assignments
  • Grade all student assignments in a timely manner and provide feedback to promote academic success
  • Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to provide support to students
  • Attend program/department meetings as requested
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current methods and practices for teaching college-level courses
  • Learn and utilize technology offered at USJ to facilitate teaching
  • Meet all designated class periods in the semester as dictated by the academic calendar
  • Submit mid-semester and final grades to the Registrar's Office within required timeframes
Requirements:
  • Master's degree or higher in English, Writing, Composition, Literature, or a related field
  • Industry experience, a terminal degree, and/or prior college-level teaching experience is strongly preferred
  • Cultural competency to work with diverse student and/or employee population
  • Commitment to the University of Saint Joseph mission
Additional Information:

Teaching assignments are part-time, on a semester basis only, and are dependent on student enrollment and department need. All adjunct offers are contingent on sufficient enrollment. Regular attendance is an essential job function as it demonstrates dependability towards the performance of job duties.

Adjunct rates per 3-credit course:

  • Non-Terminal Degree/0-6 Credits Experience = $2,900.00
  • Terminal Degree/0-6 Credits Experience = $3,100.00
  • Non-Terminal Degree/7+Credits Experience = $3,300.00
  • Terminal Degree/7+ Credits Experience = $3,600.00
