Compensation: $28.00 to $32.00 per hour (Annual Salary Equivalent = $58,240 to $66,560)

Work Arrangement: Hybrid - Remote on Mondays and Fridays; In-office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Position Summary:

The Senior Accounting Specialist is tasked with executing comprehensive accounting functions, preparing budgets, and developing audit documentation alongside ongoing financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate monthly financial reports for assigned entities, including budget versus actual income statements, balance sheets, bank reconciliations, and accounts payable/receivable summaries.
  • Assist in the annual budgeting process.
  • Support the annual audit by preparing necessary documentation and ensuring timely completion of audit reports.
  • Conduct daily banking operations.
  • Review and process job-cost payable batches for pre-development projects.
  • Provide accounts payable assistance, including invoice entry and check issuance.
  • Prepare monthly recurring and adjusting journal entries.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field; or four years of relevant accounting experience; or a combination of education and experience. A minimum of two years in financial reporting is preferred.

  • 1-3 years of accounting experience in the real estate sector, with a preference for residential or affordable housing.
  • Familiarity with Finance/Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience in a multi-entity accounting environment is essential.
  • Proficiency in Yardi, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a customer service orientation.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills, with the capacity to manage priorities effectively.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret various documents, write routine reports, and communicate effectively with groups.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations, including fractions, percentages, and ratios.

Reasoning Skills:

Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions in different formats.

Work Environment:

The work environment is typically moderate in noise level. Employees are required to sit, reach, and communicate effectively. Occasional standing and walking may be necessary, along with the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
