OVERVIEW:
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for enhancing and refining manufacturing processes through comprehensive analysis of product and production techniques. This role involves evaluating manufacturing operations by designing and executing research initiatives, leveraging expertise in product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials, while collaborating with equipment suppliers and gathering insights from operators. The goal is to boost manufacturing efficiency by strategically analyzing and organizing workflow, spatial requirements, and equipment arrangements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops detailed manufacturing plans and digital visual work instructions. Updates and revises Manufacturing Work Instructions on the production floor as necessary.
- Contributes to tool design to support operational needs by creating tooling concepts and utilizing CAD/CAM software for modeling and releasing tool specifications.
- Implements model-based designs (MBD) into production by utilizing appropriate manufacturing interfaces and tools.
- Possesses expertise in advanced manufacturing functions and engineering integration to foster continuous improvements in production processes.
- Oversees the configuration management of manufacturing programs, workflows, and MES systems, ensuring integration with ERP and PLM systems.
- Demonstrates a solid understanding of MRB/ERB/CCB processes and effectively manages the disposition of engineering documents or designs.
- Communicates manufacturing strategies and processes to both internal and external stakeholders through Manufacturing Readiness Reviews.
- Engages in ongoing efforts to enhance manufacturing techniques, productivity, and product quality. Actively participates in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Designs and refines manufacturing processes to satisfy demanding hardware specifications. Evaluates engineering designs and drawings for precision and manufacturability.
- Manages the Manufacturing Bill of Materials utilizing ERP/PLM systems.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to identify problems, gather data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and determine critical parameters to develop effective process controls.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently, with strong verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with machining processes, including lathe, milling, and CNC programming.
- Ability to collaborate with project engineering, industrial engineering, quality engineering, and functional leads.
- Experience with CAD software is essential. U.S. Citizenship is required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline is required, along with a minimum of 8 years of relevant engineering experience.
