We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Reuse and Refurbishment Engineer with expertise in launch vehicle production, refurbishment, and reuse, particularly in the areas of rocket avionics, propulsion systems, structures, and mechanisms. ManTech is collaborating with the US Space Force to innovate the future of National Security Space Launch (NSSL) as new launch service providers and vehicles are integrated into the Space Force's portfolio. We are looking for experienced and motivated individuals to join our exceptional team.

This role supports the US Space Force in fleet monitoring and critical mission assistance for launch vehicles utilized in NSSL operations. The position is integral to the Space Systems Command, focusing on ensuring that launch vehicles meet the necessary requirements for satellite mission launch services. As a Project Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the Manufacturing Reuse and Refurbishment Team, aiding in assessments of vehicle design, production, and flight readiness for NSSL missions. This position emphasizes the full cycle of manufacturing operations, process adherence, and encompasses a wide range of aerospace disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team comprising various contractors, vendors, and Space Force personnel.
  • Engage with team members across different organizational levels to achieve success in a dynamic environment.
  • Execute all MARRV tasks with a high degree of engineering proficiency and minimal oversight.
  • As a valued team member, possess in-depth knowledge of launch vehicle avionics, propulsion systems, or structural components.
  • Prepare and present assessments and evaluation results to senior program managers and Space Force stakeholders in a timely and competent manner.
  • Work effectively with senior representatives from launch service providers to ensure compliance with contract requirements and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement assessment plans to evaluate process health, compliance with requirements, and product flight readiness.
  • Analyze product design and its integration with manufacturing processes to assess qualification, capability, and process maturity.
  • Utilize trend analysis skills and excel in metric generation.
  • Apply knowledge of NDE and NDT specifications during the manufacturing of flight materials or major assemblies.
  • Review documentation for proper configuration management and change control.
  • Evaluate manufacturing capacity, production readiness, and vendor control requirements.
  • Manage technical and engineering data, including data mining and reporting.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering preferred; degrees in other STEM fields may also be considered.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in Manufacturing, Quality, Avionics, or Structures engineering, with at least 3 years in aerospace quality or manufacturing engineering.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance.
  • Proficient in Confluence, including page/report creation and integration with Jira and Microsoft products.
  • Strong background in Aerospace and Launch Vehicles.
  • Able to work regularly at designated locations during the work week.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Space & Missile Systems Center or other government agencies.
  • Familiarity with Falcon family launch vehicles and their operations.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to prepare and deliver presentations and reports to senior engineers and management.
  • Demonstrated independence, initiative, and proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members across disciplines.
  • Sound judgment and effective decision-making skills.
  • Willingness to adopt new learning techniques and technologies.
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams during design and testing phases.
  • Competency with MS Office products and collaborative software.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
  • Occasional movement within the office environment.
  • Frequent use of computers and office machinery.
  • Regular communication with colleagues and clients, requiring accurate information exchange.
