The Human Services Clerk plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional service to clients in alignment with the mission and values of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. This position involves receiving and processing documentation from clients while ensuring accurate and timely responses. Proficiency in computer systems is essential for data management and inquiry resolution, while maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information.
This role primarily operates from the main office, with occasional responsibilities at alternate locations.
COMPENSATION: The typical salary range for this position is $35,360-$40,958 annually, influenced by qualifications and experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reception Duties:
- Maintain punctual and reliable attendance while working onsite.
- Welcome clients, manage appointments, and oversee visitor access.
- Ensure the reception area is organized and informative for visitors.
- Handle inquiries via phone and in-person, providing accurate information and assistance.
- Facilitate service applications by coordinating appointments and documentation.
- Document case information across various computer systems.
- Conduct follow-up communications with clients as necessary.
- Sort and distribute incoming correspondence and prepare outgoing mail.
- Ensure readiness of mail bins for daily collection.
- Monitor and distribute faxes and maintain necessary supplies for office equipment.
- Manage shared email correspondence and accurately file documents.
- Regularly check client mail drop boxes and ensure proper documentation.
- Order and manage office supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels.
- Coordinate with vendors for service-related issues.
- Assist in maintaining departmental web pages and informational materials.
- Provide voter registration information and compile necessary reports.
- Schedule interpretation services and administrative hearings.
- File documents for departmental staff and prepare meeting minutes.
- Process payments and issue receipts as required.
- Support case specialists and supervisors with administrative tasks.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of one year of experience in customer service.
- Experience in Human Services is preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish is an advantage.
Knowledge:
- Understanding of human service programs and service delivery methods.
- Familiarity with administrative procedures and office systems.
- Awareness of customer service principles and practices.
- Ability to interact professionally with clients and the public.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer operations.
- Strong mathematical skills for handling financial transactions.
- Demonstrate reliability and punctuality in attendance.
- Exhibit active listening skills to address client needs.
- Maintain composure while performing diverse tasks.
- Safeguard sensitive information with discretion.
The role is conducted in a standard office setting with moderate noise levels and frequent interaction with colleagues and clients. The position requires prolonged periods of sitting and using a computer, along with the ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
